Spotlight: Global health initiatives with our residents
Our Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program offers residents unique opportunities to engage in global health projects. Residents have used elective time to work in countries such as Haiti, Cape Verde, China and Tanzania. For example, Dr. Shawn Fitzsimmons, class of 2019, traveled to Malawi with Bridges to Malawi to train local staff in ultrasound techniques using smartphone-connected devices, improving diagnostic care in resource-limited settings.
