Graduate Medical Education Office

The Tufts Medical Center Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office provides support for the activities within our medical education programs.

The Tufts Medical Center Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office staff works to ensure that all of our trainees receive an education of the highest quality. We also make sure that every trainee is provided with equitable treatment under the guidelines of ACGME and Tufts Medical Center (Tufts MC) policies.

The GME office serves as the credentialing office for all ACGME residents and fellows, working directly with the Board of Registration in Medicine for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Tufts MC’s Human Resources office.

The Graduate Medical Education committee

The GME Committee (established in accordance with ACGME regulations) has the responsibility of monitoring and advising on all aspects of residency education, and reports to Tufts MC's Medical Executive Committee. Voting membership on the GME Committee includes peer-nominated residents, program directors and other members of the faculty, hospital leadership and a designated institutional official. Attendance and participation at the GMEC is strongly encouraged for faculty and residents interested in medical education.

In addition, residents and fellows are expected to participate in the work of various hospital committees; this is an invaluable way to get involved in the hospital and learn how a large academic medical center is run. It also ensures that the residents' concerns are addressed.
