There are probably many ideas running through your mind as you plan for your hospital stay. Last-minute thoughts like "did I adjust the thermostat?" or "do I have my medical records handy?" may surface anxious or uneasy feelings. We understand, and many of our team members have been in similar shoes.
Planning for your hospital stay ahead of time can calm any concerns about leaving home. It allows you to better control your comfort as you spend the night in a new place. A good way to make your hospital stay a home away from home is by packing a few personal items, like:
- Books, magazines or other reading materials
- Favorite pajamas and slippers
- Favorite foods or snacks (if permitted)
- Cell phone charger
- Photos of your family
You should also remember to bring:
- Photo identification
- Your insurance card
- A copy of any Health Care Proxy, Advanced Directive, Guardianship in Place or other applicable legal documents related to your healthcare wishes
- A list of all medications you are currently taking
Please do not bring jewelry, large sums of cash, credit cards, electrical appliances or anything else you deem valuable. We cannot assume responsibility for any personal possessions.
