Our structured advocacy curriculum gives you practical tools and real-world experience to become a confident leader. You’ll explore how advocacy works at every level, from local communities to national policy, and learn to influence change through social media, public speaking and persuasive writing. Interactive workshops and dynamic guest speakers bring advocacy to life and help you find your unique voice.
As a resident, you can:
- Publish your ideas in our online advocacy column
- Represent Tufts Medical Center at local and national advocacy days
- Serve on panels shaping women’s health policy
- Collaborate with leaders in organizations like ACOG and the AMA
Our residents don’t just participate in advocacy, many hold leadership roles in national organizations and help organize events that shape the future of women’s healthcare.
Recent advocacy curriculum topics include:
- Introduction to legislative advocacy
- Effective communication in abortion care
- Using evidence in reproductive health advocacy with IBIS Reproductive Health
- Advocating for patients in public health insurance programs with the Harvard Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation
- Global health advocacy with the Refugee Women’s Health Clinic at Boston Medical Center
