Getting care for behavioral health can be challenging, especially if your family or culture is not accustomed to it. Our program connects you to bilingual doctors who understand your background and respect your experiences, personal beliefs and values.
Removing barriers to mental health treatment in the Asian-American community
While we are experts at caring for our patients with a variety of health conditions, we recognize that getting mental health treatment may be harder for Asian Americans due to stigma, cultural pressures and beliefs.
We believe that our role as community care partners is to make everyone feel comfortable by helping increase access to care and reduce barriers to treatment, like language and cost.
That's why we connect you to doctors who speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English and provide culturally sensitive care. We can also help you with the insurance process, and if needed, we can provide you with a confidential interpreter.
Conditions
With each generation, there is increased awareness and education about mental health disorders, making it less taboo to seek help. While getting help may seem scary, it's the first step to feeling like yourself again. Our compassionate team treats a variety of conditions, such as:
Testing
Even though you may want to brush off your symptoms, it's important for you to recognize how you feel and talk to your doctor. Everyone can feel sad or lonely at times. The sooner you reach out for care, the better you'll feel.
If your doctor thinks you may have a mental health condition, they may recommend tests to help us accurately diagnose the cause of your symptoms. Tests we offer include:
- Psychiatric consultations: Being evaluated by a medical provider specializing in psychiatry
- Psychopharmacological assessments: Being evaluated by a medical provider and pharmacist to evaluate your medications or possible medication options
- Psychosocial evaluations: Having social workers or other healthcare workers evaluate your social environment and the possible impact on your mental health
Treatments
There are many treatments available that can help you feel better. We have experience treating people of all ages, from college students to older adults. We aim to help you manage your symptoms to participate in your community, activities, school and work.
