Years of experience

For more than 70 years, our residency program has trained diagnostically excellent pathologists who are prepared to lead across pathology, from diagnostics to discovery to education. As a medium-sized program, we offer a balanced, supportive training environment with 12 residents and 3 fellows. You'll gain deep experience across anatomic and clinical pathology while building strong diagnostic skills, communication and interprofessional collaboration.

We help each resident map out their career path through focused guidance, research involvement and real-world experience. Our faculty bring diverse scholarly interests and welcome resident participation in research, with many residents presenting at national meetings and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. Graduates from our program go on to top fellowships and leadership roles in academia, private practice and industry.

You’ll develop independence and expertise through direct exposure to a broad and complex case mix. Our residents work with more than 20,000 surgical specimens each year, along with a wide range of cytology, hematopathology and molecular studies. With progressive responsibility and faculty support, you'll be prepared to meet the demands of any pathology practice or subspecialty.
