At Tufts Medicine, our Department of Surgery drives innovation through cutting-edge clinical and translational research. We tackle complex surgical challenges across multiple specialties, advancing both knowledge and clinical practice. Our research spans early-stage discovery, device development, clinical trials and post-market studies, supported by a multidisciplinary team of board-certified surgeons, engineers and research nurses.

- Surgical + Interventional Research Laboratories (SIRL): Full-service preclinical testing for medical devices and surgical technologies
- Center for Clinical Trials (CCT): Expertise and infrastructure for complex trial design and management, supporting high-quality clinical research across Tufts CTSI partners
- Clinical + Translational Research Center (CTRC): Facilitates clinical research across Tufts Health Sciences Campus, enabling rapid translation of discoveries into new therapies and surgical approaches
