Physical Medicine + Rehabilitation Residency Program

Build your physiatry career with expert training at Tufts Medical Center’s PM+R residency

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program at Tufts Medical Center is a three-year, ACGME-accredited advanced program (PGY-2 to PGY-4). We accept three residents per year through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). Our program is designed to prepare future physiatrists for success in both academic and clinical settings.

Training takes place across several top-tier institutions in the Boston area, including Tufts Medical Center, VA Boston Healthcare System, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital and the New England Spine Center. Each site provides unique experiences that build a strong foundation in rehabilitation medicine.

Residents work closely with expert faculty in one-on-one settings and rotate through a wide range of subspecialties. Our program offers hands-on experience in everything from stroke and spinal cord injury care to pediatric rehab, interventional pain procedures and amputee medicine.

Key features include:

  • Broad clinical exposure across inpatient, outpatient, pediatric and specialty rehab settings
  • Personalized mentorship and small class size for individualized training
