At Tufts Medical Center in Boston, our palliative care fellowship is known for its strong focus on cultural sensitivity. We serve a diverse patient community with roots in China, Southeast Asia and many other backgrounds. We respect each person’s language, values and traditions as we provide care for serious illness and end of life.

Our fellows gain hands-on experience with innovative care models that address how culture shapes medical decisions, while training in a warm, welcoming environment that encourages curiosity and compassion. This fellowship prepares clinicians to provide thoughtful, personalized care to all patients, no matter their background.

  • Rotations across inpatient consultation, home hospice, inpatient hospice, long-term care, and pediatrics

Our location in Chinatown gives fellows the opportunity to care for a broad mix of people, including many from Chinese and Southeast Asian backgrounds. You’ll learn how to honor cultural values and language in serious illness and end-of-life care. This experience helps shape a deeper understanding of how culture influences care decisions.

Fellows rotate through inpatient consults, home hospice, long-term care and pediatric settings. This hands-on experience prepares you to care for people in every stage and setting of serious illness. You’ll see how palliative care adapts across different environments and populations.

You’ll work closely with experienced faculty who are committed to teaching. We foster a warm, team-oriented culture that encourages clinical growth, curiosity and compassion. You’ll never train alone—support is built into every step of the program.
