Train to lead in critical care medicine at Tufts Medical Center

The Critical Care Fellowship at Tufts Medical Center offers intensive, hands-on training in a supportive and academically rich environment. This 1-year program is designed for physicians who have already completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Internal Medicine and are seeking advanced training in critical care medicine.

Fellows are fully integrated into the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care and gain broad exposure to all aspects of the field—including clinical care, education and research. Our program emphasizes flexibility and mentorship, recognizing that success looks different for every physician. We offer a personalized training experience that helps fellows build the skills, confidence and expertise needed to thrive in any critical care setting.

Fellowship highlights:

  • 12-month ACGME-accredited critical care training
  • Rotations in multiple high-acuity ICUs at Tufts Medical Center
  • Dedicated mentorship and career development support
  • Integrated experience in clinical, educational and research activities
  • Opportunities to teach residents and medical students

Faculty mentorship

Fellows take on a leading role in education throughout the program. They guide residents during ICU rotations, participate in academic conferences and sharpen their teaching skills in a real-world clinical environment.

There are opportunities to contribute to ongoing research, lead quality improvement efforts or pursue academic scholarship. Whether fellows aim to publish or gain practical experience, we support projects that align with their goals.

We focus on long-term success beyond fellowship. Our team provides personalized career guidance, mentorship and networking support to help fellows transition into academic, hospital-based or community critical care roles.
