Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program

Two-Year Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Training in Boston

The Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship at Tufts Medical Center is a two-year, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education–accredited program affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine. With more than 35 years of experience, we offer advanced, high-volume training in a supportive academic setting.

Fellows gain broad exposure to both inpatient and outpatient electrophysiology. You'll develop expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex arrhythmias, as well as procedural experience in:

  • Catheter ablation for atrial and ventricular arrhythmias
  • Device implantation, including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy
  • Advanced device management, lead extraction and left atrial appendage occlusion

In addition to clinical training, fellows are expected to contribute to education and research. You’ll:

  • Teach medical students, internal medicine residents and cardiology fellows
  • Participate in weekly educational conferences, case reviews and journal clubs
  • Engage in clinical or translational research, with support from faculty mentors

Our graduates are well-prepared for careers in either academic medicine or private practice. The program emphasizes procedural competence, scholarship and leadership in the field of electrophysiology—all within a collegial and collaborative environment.

Faculty mentorship is a cornerstone of the program. You’ll receive structured teaching, direct lab feedback and career guidance throughout your training. Here, you're more than a fellow—you’re a valued member of the EP team.

Tufts Medical Center’s electrophysiology fellowship offers hands-on experience in a high-volume EP lab that performs more than 2,000 procedures each year, including complex ablations and device implants. Fellows are involved in every step of care, from evaluation and planning to the procedure itself and post-procedure management.

As a fellow, you’ll manage complex arrhythmias, implant and troubleshoot cardiac devices and interpret advanced diagnostics. You’ll also have opportunities to teach medical students, contribute to clinical trials and get involved in research through the Molecular Cardiology Research Institute.
