Thinking through the growing brain

Neurologic conditions can affect children at any age, from birth through young adulthood. These conditions can have a big impact on both the child and their family. We are here to support you at every step—from diagnosis to treatment.

Our comprehensive evaluation includes diagnostic and care management for conditions of the brain, spine, peripheral nervous system and musculoskeletal system. We’re committed to helping children, teens and young adults get the best care possible.

Seizure + epilepsy care

Seizures can happen at any age. We’ll talk about your child’s seizures and do a full check-up of their brain and nerves. If they don’t have a diagnosis yet, we may order tests like a brain wave study (EEG), a brain scan (MRI) and sometimes genetic testing to find the cause.

We’re learning more about how genes affect seizures, and our experts can help you decide if genetic testing is needed.

If medications aren’t helping, we work with Boston Children’s Hospital to try other treatments, like special diets, nerve stimulators and surgery if needed.

Neonatal + infant neurology care

As a parent or caregiver, you’re often the first to notice if something seems off with your child. We’re here to help find and treat neurological issues early and work to improve your child’s quality of life. We provide full care for babies and toddlers, from birth through age 3, who have neurological disorders.

Pediatric concussion care

We help restore your child’s physical and mental abilities after mild to moderate concussions or other head injuries. At the first visit, we do a full exam and may suggest brain tests and scans. Based on the results, we’ll create a treatment plan that fits your child’s needs.

Pediatric headache + migraine care

Headaches and migraines can be common in children. If your child often has bad headaches, a pediatric neurologist can help. We treat children as young as 2, working to find and address the cause of their headaches.

The first step is to find out what type of headache your child has:

  • Primary headaches include tension headaches (often from stress) and migraines, which can cause nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound. Most headaches are in this category.
  • Secondary headaches are caused by other health issues, like diet, sleep problems, obesity, or sometimes brain issues.

We’re here to help relieve your child’s symptoms by treating the root cause.
