Rebecca Perkins, MD, MSc career is dedicated to reducing the incidence and morbidity of cervical cancer. Her research focuses on novel screening approaches and improving clinical guidelines for managing abnormal results. Although cervical cancer is almost entirely preventable, it still impacts over 14,000 women in the U.S. and 650,000 globally each year, particularly those under 40.
Current and upcoming research areas include:
- Using embodied conversational agents to improve primary and secondary cancer prevention
- Programs that enhance cervical cancer screening and post-screening follow-up
- Development of risk-based screening strategies using self-collected samples and AI-powered evaluation of digital cervical images
