MCRI Training + Education

Training the next generation of cardiovascular researchers is critical to the Molecular Cardiology Research Institute (MCRI) mission and a high priority in the Institute
MCRI Training and Education discussion at desk

The many training opportunities in the MCRI include:

  • The Institute sponsors a Molecular Medicine Seminar Series throughout the academic year with guest speakers participating.
  • All MCRI investigators, trainees and technical staff participate in an annual retreat in Woods Hole, with presentations by nationally and internationally recognized distinguished guest lecturers, and opportunities for all MCRI members to review their latest research as well as discuss new opportunities for collaboration.

Molecular Medicine Seminar Series:

Molecular Medicine Seminar Series

MCRI hosts the Molecular Medicine Seminar Series throughout the academic year. This hour-long seminar is held every other week on Tuesdays in the Stearns Auditorium. Speakers in the Molecular Medicine Seminar Series come from local, national and global institutions as well as Tufts Medical Center and the greater Tufts University community. Speakers are chosen to provide education in new areas of research (CME credit available to physicians), foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, and expose members of the Tufts Health Sciences Campus to some of the most interesting and prominent research being done outside of this institution.

Fellowship opportunities

The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute at Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine is actively recruiting highly qualified MD and PhD scientists in the training phase of their careers.

The major goal of this program is to train postdoctoral MD and PhD fellows in either (a) basic research involving cellular and molecular investigation in the cardiovascular system, or (b) translational cardiovascular research, through the application of current molecular and cellular principles to important clinical questions in cardiovascular medicine.

The Program is especially focused on five areas of basic and translational cardiovascular science:

  • Vascular Biology
  • Electrophysiology
  • Cardiomyocyte biology and heart failure
  • Signal transduction pathways in the cardiovascular system
  • Translational cardiovascular genomics and genetics

Applications are accepted throughout the year.

Interested applicants should send a current CV and personal research statement to mcri@tuftsmedicine.org
