We are thrilled that you are considering the Tufts Internal Medicine Residency Program. Tufts Medicine is a special place with a longstanding tradition of training outstanding clinicians ready to pursue a wide variety of careers. Our moderate size program is large enough to provide excellent learning opportunities and experiences, yet small enough to foster a tight-knit community where faculty, residents, and nurses know your name and offer genuine, caring support.
Our unique subspecialty system features 2-week rotations in each subspecialty, allowing you to learn directly from faculty board-certified in that area. This system enhances education by enabling a deeper dive into subspecialty topics taught by experts in the field. Situated in the heart of Chinatown, Tufts Medical Center serves a racially, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse population, including a large Asian immigrant community. We believe that the diversity of patients and pathologies you encounter is a vital component of your training as a physician.
At Tufts, we pride ourselves on creating a supportive learning environment; where “I don’t know” is role modeled by faculty, fellows, and residents and is always followed by a collaborative approach to figure it out together. Our educational philosophy is based on how adults learn, providing residents with the autonomy and space to make decisions, under appropriate supervision that fosters progressive independence.
One of the highlights of our program is the resident-run Morning Report, filled with amazing teaching cases, engagement, and laughter. We have maintained a 100% ABIM board pass rate for over eight years, we believe due to our unique subspecialty system and the complex patients residents learn from. Our academic advising program is designed to help you achieve your long-term career goals and find the right mentors for scholarly activities. Additionally, we have an excellent fellowship match every year, with our residents moving on to outstanding jobs.
The Tufts Internal Medicine Residency Program has a lot to offer. We believe and foster diversity, equity, and inclusion and welcome all applicants. We encourage you to explore our website and learn more about what makes our program so special. We hope you will consider us for your internal medicine residency training.
