Internal Medicine Program Apply 2024

Overview

Applicants to our Categorical Internal Medicine Program must apply through ERAS. All internship positions will be offered through the NRMP.

Please note that we do not offer a Preliminary Medicine Program.

Applications are due by October 17th.

Signaling: Applicants who have signaled our program and meet our selection criteria will receive preferential consideration for interviews. However, all candidates will undergo thorough review and consideration. We carefully evaluate every application and signaling aids in our holistic review process.

Geographic Preferences: Applicants who have indicated a geographic preference and meet our selection criteria will be preferentially considered.  However, candidates who do not have a geographic preference will also be strongly considered.

Interviews: Interviews are scheduled from November through January.

Invitations to interview are sent on a rolling basis via email through ERAS from October to December. Applicants who are not selected for an interview will also be notified via ERAS email.

U.S. Graduates
  1. ERAS Common Application Form
  2. Curriculum Vitae
  3. Medical Student Performance Evaluation (formerly Dean’s Letter)
  4. Medical School Transcript
  5. Personal Statement
  6. Three letters of recommendation, including one from the Chair of the Department of Medicine or designate.
  7. An additional letter may be submitted through ERAS.
  8. Passing USMLE Step 1 required at the time of interview. Must complete Step 2 before February of the match year.
International Medical Graduates
  1. Two months of clinical rotations in the United States. (The rotation must have involved direct patient care responsibilities).
  2. Two letters of recommendations from clinical supervisors in the United States
  3. USMLE Step 2 score of 230 or higher
  4. Medical school graduation date within four years of the start of internship
  5. You must be eligible for a J-1 VISA sponsored by the ECFMG.  Tufts is no longer providing H1b visas unless the individual is already on an H1b visa.
