GME Resident + Fellow Life

Resident + Fellow Life
Your journey as a resident or fellow at Tufts Medicine goes beyond clinical training. With a strong focus on wellness, leadership and community, we provide the resources and support you need to succeed both in and outside of the hospital.

More than training: Support, growth + balance

At Tufts Medicine, we know residency is demanding, so we make sure you have the support you need—both in and outside of training. Our GME office brings residents together across programs, creating space to connect, collaborate and make your voices heard.

As a smaller academic medical center, we offer a more personalized experience. You’ll work closely with faculty who are invested in your growth, getting hands-on training and real mentorship. You’re never just a name on a list—you’re part of a community.

Living in New England means easy access to everything—championship sports, ocean views, mountain trails and a city full of history, culture, and top-tier food. Whether you’re exploring Boston or heading out for a weekend adventure, there’s always something to do.

Our strong ties with Tufts University, Tufts University School of Medicine, Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, clinical affiliates, and a broad physician network give you the connections and opportunities to grow your career.

Building community + amplifying your voice

We’re all about building a supportive and collaborative community for our residents and fellows. Throughout the year, our Graduate Medical Education office organizes events that bring residents from different programs together, giving you the chance to share ideas, have fun, and make your voice heard. Our events include:

  • Bi-monthly resident leadership council meetings: Collaborate with fellow residents and make your impact on training initiatives.
  • Monthly GME committee meetings: Discuss key updates, share feedback and help shape the program.
  • New house staff orientation + luncheon: Start your journey with us by connecting with new colleagues and learning about your role.
  • Quarterly resident forums: Engage in conversations about your training, experiences, and feedback with faculty and leadership.
  • Resident social events: Unwind and have fun with fellow residents outside the hospital, from casual meet-ups to themed parties.
  • Semi-annual house staff appreciation day: Get recognized for all the hard work you do, and take time to relax and celebrate with your colleagues.

These events are the perfect opportunity to connect, collaborate and unwind with your fellow residents, making sure you feel supported, heard, and valued during your training at Tufts Medicine. Plus, they’re all about making sure you have a good time while shaping the future of your residency experience.
