What is a Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC)?

A PFAC is a group of volunteer patients, family members, community members, clinicians and staff who work together to improve the healthcare experience. By sharing ideas and feedback, PFAC members help strengthen the partnership between the community and the care team, and support our mission to deliver safe, high-quality, and compassionate care.

Why some of our community members decided to join PFAC

Bob R. from Pelham, NH

Bob is 74 years old from Pelham, NH. He is a retired high school math teacher.

Bob joined the PFAC because he felt the “cardiac group” needed representation. This is the initiative he is most passionate about. He said he has learned that there is a serious attempt to solve all problems encountered by patients. Bob is looking to help improve medical services for the people in his community.

Bob stays busy with several groups involved with collecting and repairing watches.

April M. from Chelmsford

April is 29 years old from Chelmsford, MA. She is a community-based clinician. She joined PFAC after a positive experience with Lowell General Hospital and is committed and invested in our community.

As a PFAC member, April would like to improve patient experiences, and help Lowell General be more in tune with patient needs. One initiative that she is most passionate about is the collaboration between hospitals and provider offices. April has learned that systematic change takes patience and time and that there is great passion in the community.

Paul M. from Westford

Paul is 80 years old from Westford, MA. He is retired and volunteers at Lowell General Hospital.

Paul joined the PFAC to contribute to the work of Lowell General from a patient and caregiver experience here. He would like to develop ideas to better serve patients, employees, and the overall community that Lowell General serves.

Paul is on the Town of Westford Cemetery Commission Green Burial sub-council and an Election Officer.
