Visitor Policy Change Effective 8/19

August 19, 2021

Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases throughout the Commonwealth, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has released updated visitor policy guidance for hospitals.

Mask guidelines

At Lowell General Hospital and Circle Health, we want to ensure that you are Safe with Us. We will be updating our visitor policy beginning Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 1pm to ensure the health and safety of our patients, staff and community. Each patient will be allowed one support person over the age of 18 at a time whether the patient is inpatient or outpatient.

The following exceptions will be taken into account: end-of-life care, maternity patients, pediatric patients and other situations that are pre-approved by a patient’s care team. Lowell General had previously been allowing one support person for one hour per day.

Lowell General Hospital and Circle Health are well prepared to care for patients with this illness and to protect all other patients, as well as our healthcare providers and staff. We will continue to closely follow the latest data and guidance from federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state Department of Public Health and will adapt our COVID-19 response accordingly.
