Tufts Medical Center created Team Tufts MC in 2014 when we received our first set of fundraising bibs, issued by the Boston Athletic Association because we cared for so many victims of the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, 2013. Since then, more than 500 runners have raised over $4 million. This year on April 15th, the tenth anniversary of our team, Team Tufts MC took on the Boston Marathon once more. Each runner ran in support of Tufts Medical Center, raising money to support the life-saving care that takes place here every day, as they trained for this athletic feat. We are so proud of all 50 of our runners, and were excited to cheer them on at Mile 15 this Patriots' Day.
Each of our Team Tufts MC members ran for Tufts Medical Center because they wished to give back. Some of our runners have been patients themselves, others are friends and family members of patients and staff, and some are staff. This year 14 Tufts Medicine employees joined the team. All of our runners are dedicated to supporting the compassionate care and groundbreaking medical advancements taking place at the Medical Center.
As of April 16, our team has raised more than $390,000 in support of Tufts Medical Center. Thank you again, Team Tufts MC!
