We are pleased to announce Nina Dadlez, MD, MSc as Associate Chief Medical Officer for Quality.
“Dr. Dadlez has an impressive background in high reliability, quality improvement and patient safety,” said Erik Garpestad, MD, Interim Chief Medical Officer. “She is the perfect person to accelerate this work within Tufts Medical Center.”
Dr. Dadlez joined Tufts MC in 2018 as a Pediatric Hospitalist and the Medical Director of Quality for Tufts Medical Center. Dr. Dadlez has implemented a series of interventions, including the successful Good Catch Program that began in Pediatrics and has now been adopted across the Medical Center. She also developed unit-based huddles, a daily high-reliability briefing and a serious safety event review program at Tufts Medical Center. Additionally, Dr. Dadlez is a member of the Tufts MC High-Reliability Task Force leading us on our HRO journey, and she co-leads the Safe T Training Program targeting all 7,000 Tufts MC employees.
“Dr. Dadlez has shown great leadership as our Pediatrics Director of Quality,” said Geoffrey G Binney, Jr, MD, MPH, Pediatrician-in-Chief, Tufts Medical Center.
“This acknowledgment of her expertise and skills in quality and safety and the importance of this work across the entire Medical Center is wonderful news.”
Dr. Dadlez’s research interests are also focused on quality and safety, involving the reduction of medication prescribing and diagnostic errors, understanding the epidemiology of preventable medical errors and safe transitions of care throughout the medical system. She is currently the Principal Investigator on a grant from the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine to investigate an electronic tool to reduce missed radiology tests in the ambulatory setting. She serves as Co-Chair of the Academic Pediatric Association’s Quality Improvement Special Interest Group and is a New England Regional Champion for the international quality improvement collaborative, Children’s Hospitals’ Solutions for Patient Safety Network.
After earning her Medical Degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Dr. Dadlez completed her Internship and Residency at New York Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital and Columbia University in New York City. She went on to complete her Fellowship in Pediatric Hospital Medicine at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx, where she studied quality improvement methodology.
